Provide a quality comprehensive sex education with Get Real

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

WebSight Design is pleased to announce the launch of GetRealEducation.org. This is our latest project of many for long-time client – Planned Parenthood – League of Massachusetts (PPLM).

This site was built based on existing print material, and showcases a program from the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts that helps to provide sex education resources to schools.

For this site, WSD assumed responsibility for a code base created by the Education Development Center. The code was built using Drupal (a CMS Package) and Moodle (an open-source PHP web application for producing internet-courses). WebSight Design implemented a Virtual Private Server (VPS), migrated the code base, and insured that the site functioned properly in its new environment.

The site contains PDFs and sample material to download, as well as plenty of information on what the program is about and how it works.

The site is designed to generate interest in the program so that parents, teachers, and other educators will contact PPLM and ask to have the Get Real program taught at their own schools.

The first goal of Get Real is to expand and support quality comprehensive sex education in schools through teacher training and curriculum implementation. Two different programs have been developed, Middle School Curriculum and High School Curriculum, based on a common program research, Get Real: Comprehensive Sex Ed that Works.

Key goals are to delay the initiation of sexual intercourse, to involve parents, to provide medically and age-appropriate information, to use a Social Emotional Learning approach, to encourage use of protection methods when the students become sexually active, and to encourage the institutionalization of comprehensive sex education programming in schools.

Get Real Education is proud to have reached nearly 14,000 students in 2010 through the 96 teachers they have trained so far at 44 schools across Massachusetts, and they won’t stop there!

WSD just launched the Charles Clapp Law Offices’ web site

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

Referred to us by a long-time client, Charles Clapp is an attorney based in Boston, Massachusetts who, prior to contacting WSD, did not have a web site.

We essentially created a “brochure site,” which highlights who he is, what areas of law he practices, and how potential clients can contact him.

We built a contact form, which stores submissions in a database, and also integrated a Word Press blog, so that the client could update News items and various notes himself.

In addition, we provided the client with some basic search engine optimization. We set up a Google Analytics account for him and installed the tracking code so he could monitor site traffic.

We created a sitemap.xml file and submitted that to the search engines. This file helps the search engines to index web pages quicker, which is important for a new site like this one that has never been indexed before.

Keyword research was performed to develop page titles and meta descriptions.

Charles Clapp Law Offices operates in various fields- real estate, estate planning, commercial real estate and business representation. On the site, visitors can find all the services related to each practice area, client testimonials and some news in connection with the firm and its business area like the Massachusetts Real Estate Forecast.

Tri State Restorations just went live

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

WebSight Design is pleased to announce the launch of TriStateRestores.com.

We designed the visual interface, updated and refreshed their logo, and gave them a robust content management system that gives them total control over their site’s content. They can add new pages, manage the photos on each page, contribute to the before-and-after image galleries, and collect user information via a contact form.

We provided search engine optimization (SEO) services for the client as well. A major part of this plan involved strengthening the site’s information architecture. On the new site, there are several categories and levels of content, for example different sections for the different types of emergencies.

The supporting pages explain more about what Tri State does and provide detailed information about possible damages related to water, flood, sewage, mold, smoke and fire, and several advices to follow in case of disaster. Related content is clearly segmented to facilitate users navigation on the website.

We approached this web site from a search engine marketing perspective, with plenty of pages of keyword-rich content and the integration of dynamic phone number tracking. In fact, the emergency phone number changes depending on the location of the user.

The next phase of SEO will focus on local optimization. This will involve the creation of pages tailored to content related to each of the areas in which Tri State operates. As the company grows and expands, among other local optimization efforts, Google Places pages will be set up for each office location.

In addition to all of the web design and development, we are designing several print collateral projects for them, including printed flyers, magnets and more.

Tri State Restorations is a company specialized in the cleanup and restorations of commercial and residential damage. Their main services include mold remediation, air sampling, water and flood damage mitigation, sewer damage clean up, smoke damage clean up, fire restoration and trauma clean up. The company currently serves clients in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

A disaster can strike at any time that is why they are here to service customers 24 hours 7 days a week and onsite within 90 minutes. To avoid waiting in the reimbursement, they offer to bill the insurance company directly.

They have the full complement of advanced technology and expert services to make a difficult situation manageable.

WebSight Design gets into business community with The Barlow

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

WSD has just completed the redesign of thebarlow.net, which showcases the new commercial property development project in the city of Sebastopol.

Their older web site was incredibly difficult to navigate and didn’t give them room to grow if they wanted to add new pages or information.

So, we re-designed the interface to keep the existing branding and “industrial” feel but in a better, organized, easier-to-use manner. The site now has drop-down menus under each section, so the client can add pages and info without having to try to squeeze in extra buttons.

We also built a contact form that stores contact requests in a database.

Finally, Java script animations features give to the site a cool and dynamic aspect, comparable with Apple products.

A former apple factory, The Barlow enjoys an ideal location in downtown Sebastopol. Designed to be earth-friendly, this place is being reinvented to help beautify the community as well as provide a boost to local businesses.

The goal is to gather together all the best products, wine, cheese, coffee, bakeries, produce and more in a unique and convivial place. The founders have created a space that offers a synergy amongst the makers of the region’s finest products, as well as a direct connection between the consumer and the makers of the local products they love. Several amenities like bocce ball courts, restaurants or fire pits are planed to welcome visitors and families.

“Our mission is to create and maintain a well-planned, organic environment for the community to conduct business, share food and enjoy art, wine and time together.”

The Barlow Grand Opening is planned for spring 2012.

A redesign for Trish Becker Jewelry

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

WebSight Design has just completed a revamp for trishbeckerjewelry.com.

Our longtime relationship with Trish Becker continues with this all-new website that perfectly matches her vision. The new design is clean and simple. It conjures up beach and ocean – her main inspiration. And like her creations, it is fresh and sun-kissed.

We did both a front-end visual redesign, as well as a back-end programming re-development. It was moved from an old ColdFusion codebase to our PHP environment.

The back-end we set up allows her to upload new products, add new categories, put items on sale, manage orders, update her “press” section, and receive customer comments through the contact form.

Not simply a standard e-commerce website, the features on the site are an excellent resource to secure the loyalty of clients and expedite shopping online.

Trish Becker wanted to group her products by category and then by style. So, for one type of product, several variations are suggested in terms of color, gemstone, etc. It is easier for users to find the product they want and see more products in one click! Customers also have the opportunity to customize their shopping cart.

A professional photographer was brought in to take all new pictures of her jewelry, which range from precious stone to cameo.

Though all of her creations can be bought on the website, shoppers can also find a list of the stores where the brand is sold.

Visit the website to learn more about this designer, her career and the work she is so passionate about.

“It’s wonderful to have people respond so enthusiastically to something I love doing.” –Trish Becker

WSD Rolls Out Online Marketing Campaign for STDandHIVtesting.com

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

WebSight Design’s recent redesign of STDandHIVtesting.com has launched and is already receiving positive results.

Our client came to us in need of change- its website and online marketing efforts were not meeting the desired goals of the business.  After careful analysis, WSD developed a solution that would differentiate the company from others in its market while delivering the leads and online exposure necessary for it to succeed in its competitive niche.

The first step was a complete overhaul of the previous design. With the new look completed and live, we have begun rolling out a multi-pronged online marketing campaign, which, among other elements, will focus on search and social media.

Still in the early stages, the revamping of our client’s underperforming PPC campaign has been successful so far.
