Rob’s Tech Page - Zen of Zend Framework, PHP, et all
Hi there! My name is Rob Mudgett and I am a Senior Web Developer here at Web Sight Design. I think that is because I am older than the other programmers here that I get the notation of ‘Senior’, or that I have been here longer than the others. In any case I am still too young to get a senior discount for travel and eating at Ihop, but I am old enough to drink and drive…wait, that didn’t come out right. I am old enough to drink and I am old enough to drive, but I definitely don’t do both at the same time.
This post is really just an introduction about me and it takes my mind off of work for a bit. One of those things that you neeed to do once in a while when you hit a mind block while writing code. Yes, I am trying to work through one of those things now
So, what do I know and why should you care? Well, maybe you don’t, at least not yet. Once I actually share some of my hard earned knowledge that saves you some time, or allows you to grow in your own knowledge, then maybe you might start to care. Just the fact that you are still reading this says something…
My area of expertise is mainly PHP, however I know enough ASP to get myself into trouble. You know, once you know the concepts pf programming, picking up a new programming language is really easy. Heck, I learned PASCAL in like 3 days when I was in college, but I still had to finish the course anyway. Yes I aced it and no, I don’t write anything in PASCAL anymore, but I have never used a goto statement since.
Anyhoo, I have been writing programs from really stupid games to really complex data driven web sites since high school, and no, I don’t write any games while at work. I actually busy myself with extending the Zend Framework to do stuff that it wasn’t meant to do and even stuff that it was. Basically, I don’t say that anything is impossible and I have trouble saying no, especially to my 3 year old son, because he is so darn cute
So I mentioned that we use the Zend Framework to build our websites with. In the future I will share some stuff about what we have developed here and how to do some really cool stuff building upon an already outstanding bit of code. Hopefully you will find some of it useful to you.
