RecordingConnection.com, the second site we’ve launched in a series of three from Entertainment Career Connection, is now live.

The site is controlled through the same core code base as already launched FilmConnection.com. The sites have two separate front-ends and administrators, but updates only need to be made to one code for changes to be made simultaneously.

The redesigned site has improved search engine optimization capabilities. Through the site admin, the company’s in-house SEO developer can now add meta data, create optimized URLs, and add and delete pages with a content manager.

RecordingConnection.com is an alternative to traditional schools. The program places students in actual recording studios as their classrooms providing participants with hands-on learning, training and real world experience.

But recently, looking to add a little more excitement and safe adventure to my life, I decided to dabble with a new browser.

For some reason I’ve never liked Firefox. I’m not too sure why, but I don’t choose to use it except for testing purposes. So, I went with Chrome.

But even before I had started this experiment, I would often look down at my dock and wonder why I have three browser icons in there – Safari, Chrome, and Firefox – when I prefer one so highly to all the others.

Today, I got my answer.

While doing local optimization research on a client, I was searching through Google Places and Yahoo! Local. Using Safari as usual, I went to the Bing Local Listing Center and was greeted with this:

Of course. How silly of me to assume that a Microsoft site would support an Apple or Google browser. That would make things too simple.

But that’s not all.

There’s the problem I run into when browsing on my new MacBook Air – when using Safari, I can’t view Flash. So I have Chrome installed for when I visit those types of sites. Which, from an SEO’s point of view, is a problem I should not encounter to begin with because why are people still using Flash on their sites?

And there was Google’s announcement that Chrome will not support H.264 and therefore is trying to make Flash the future of video on the web. And they’ve also pulled Mozilla onto the bandwagon. Another inconvenient battle in the larger war between Apple and Google, as if the Apple and Microsoft feud wasn’t enough.

So I have Safari for general usage and apparently H.264 videos, Chrome for Flash sites and extra plug-ins, and Firefox for testing and those times I need to access certain areas of Bing.

Moral of the story? I need to find a new “Switzerland” browser that will make my web life simpler. And my dock a lot less cluttered.

In November, WebSight Design launched FilmConnection.com, a new WSD 2.0 framework website which we migrated from straight HTML.

Launched in conjunction with design agency meat and potatoes, the site was styled to be templated. To support this model, we developed a template-based page manager. The client can add a new page and then choose from templates that have been created. Movable content areas and the formatting and structure of the text give each page a unique feel.

The main reason for the site redesign was to improve search engine optimization functionality. Film Connection has its own in-house SEO developer, who we worked closely with to deliver an extremely dynamic and SEO friendly product. Through the site administrator, there is freedom to create optimized URLs, add meta data, and add and delete pages with a content manager. In addition, navigation and images were done in text to enhance optimization.

This site is particularly unique and advanced as it is a base for two other websites to come – Radio Connection and Recording Connection. All sites will be controlled through a core code base. They each have different front-ends and administrators, however, updates only need to be made to one code for all sites to be changed simultaneously.

Film Connection is a film school alternative that gives students a structured curriculum while at the same time placing them in industry internships to network and gain real world experience- all done at a fraction of the cost of a traditional program.

WebSight Design is excited to launch a site redesign for long time mesothelioma law firm client, Clapper Patti Schweizer & Mason.

As part of an ongoing search marketing campaign and plan to make the site a comprehensive resource for mesothelioma patients and their loved ones, the new site has been updated with a layout that provides better organization of information. Among other steps, we have added new sections, combined mini sites, and upgraded the CMS to accommodate the new architecture and goals of the site.

A newly added section is dedicated to providing resources and information about legal rights to veterans with mesothelioma. There are over 22 million military veterans in the United States and anyone who served before the 1970s may have been exposed to asbestos and could be at risk of developing an asbestos-related disease such as mesothelioma. It now includes content from the law firm’s old mini site that was created specifically to deliver treatment and support options to mesothelioma patients.

The enhanced CMS supports the main objectives of the search marketing plan for the site. It allows administrators to easily add and subtract subpages to the main navigation sections as well as move them around if necessary.
